Here is her statement:

I, Sheryl Holmes Abbott, would like all to know my intentions on running in the upcoming May election for the Newport News City Council Southeast District seat. It is clear that our city is in need of fresh, common sense, and fiscally sound guidance for our present as well as our future. As my stand in opposition to the NN Reservoir may have been unpopular,  it clearly showed
my common sense leadership approach will greatly benefit the decisions of our local government in the future. My philosophy is that leadership plus engagement on councils’ part to the community will lead us towards a safe, transparent, and prosperous city going forward for future generations.
